WINTER ADVENTURES STRETCH FAR BEYOND THE SLOPES
When winter comes calling in the Pocono Mountains, don’t feel trapped inside if skiing is not in your skill set. The area’s 2,400 square miles are home to a rich range of snowy adventures that stretch far beyond the ski slopes. From adrenaline-pumping pursuits like dog sledding and snow tubing to relaxing jaunts like snowshoeing, there is plenty to keep you entertained. So even if you’re not a skier, don’t let that stop you from experiencing winter adventure in the Poconos. Here are 10 outdoor and indoor winter activities to get you started.
Check out Galactic snowtubing at Camelback Mountain, with an impressive 40 lanes, music and a light display at night. Explore the Pocono’s cross-country skiing or snowshoeing at Promised Land State Park. Ice skating is available at either Promised Land, or Tobyhanna State Park. Enjoy a serene winter day on a horse drawn sleigh ride through Daisy Field Farm or liven it up by riding an all-terrain vehicle through Pocono Outdoor Adventure Tours. Play a game outside at Paintball Asylum.
If you want to escape the cold, check out indoor waterparks such as Camelback’s Aquatopia or Kalahari, the largest indoor waterpark in the country! Ride go-karts at S&S Speedways or try an Escape Room. If you want more of a physical challenge, Pocono Rocks has a great “Ninja Warrior” course, with similar obstacles to the ones you’ve seen on TV.
